International Violin Competition of Indianapolis

by

The 10th Quadrennial International Violin Competition of Indianapolis was in the local and international spotlight from the opening ceremony on August 31 to the gala awards ceremony on September 16. And Axiomport was once again proud to help this distinguished organization with their marketing efforts in what is casually known as the ‘Olympics of Violin Competitions,’ since it happens once every four years.

This year’s creative concept featured the artwork of New York City based artist, Mayuko Fujino. Her work combines intricate paper cutouts backed with collages made from magazine pages. In the artist statement from her web site, she explains that the paper cutout layer “illustrates fantastical narratives of emotions stemming from the subconscious mind” while the magazine collage layer “comes from the reality where our mind is active during the day.” Four pieces of art—inspired by the themes of “Nest”, “Tsunami”, “Serenade”, and “Ear Buds”—were commissioned for limited edition posters to commemorate the 10th quadrennial anniversary of the competition. The artwork was also featured prominently in all print and digital media. The print materials included a “Funnel-ology” handout, a fun interactive piece for fans to use to track their favorite competitors on the way to The Sweet Six and ultimately to the crowning of the Gold Medalist of the competition.

The media plan encompassed a multi-tiered approach, reaching industry specialists–local, national and international professional and semi-professional violinists, professors and students of classical music–as well as local and regional classical music and violin enthusiasts. The media mix included targeted digital media, social media, radio and print media for both trade and consumer publications.
